This Privacy Policy outlines how InsideOut Institute (referred to as "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit and use the "InsideOut Institute GP Tool website” (hereinafter referred to as the “GP HUB") as a General Practitioner or other clinician or person seeking information on eating disorders. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal data. By using the Website, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.  

1 Policy statement  

InsideOut Institute (InsideOut, we, us and our) is committed to managing and protecting the privacy of the personal information it collects and holds in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1988 and other applicable privacy laws (including the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW)) (Privacy Laws).

We may collect the following types of information: 

a) Personal Information 

  • When you voluntarily provide it through forms, surveys, or contact submissions, such as your name, email address, and other contact details. 
  • Information related to your use of the diagnosis support tool, which may include data from eating disorder assessments (eg: unidentified assessment answers including symptoms and severity that you enter as a part of clinical decision support process.)

  • Usage data and analytics, including but not limited to your IP address, browser type, operating system, and pages visited on the Website. We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to gather this information. 

3 How We Use Your Information 

We use your information for the following purposes: 

a) Analytics 

  • To understand how users interact with the Website, including the use of the diagnosis support tool. 
  • To improve the quality and relevance of our educational content. 

b) Communication 

  • To respond to your inquiries or requests. 
  • To send you information and updates about the Website, including newsletters and educational content.

We may use aggregated and anonymized data for research and reporting purposes regarding the uptake, use and effectiveness of the GP HUB, and trends in eating disorder identification and management. 

Research findings and statistical information based upon the above aggregated and anonymised data may be used to present at conferences, contribute to academic papers, and share with government bodies, healthcare professionals, and relevant stakeholders. 

5 Data Security 

We take appropriate measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These security measures include encryption, access controls, and regular security assessments. 

Your records, including personal information, are retained for a minimum of 4 years to comply with data retention obligations and will be held to support ongoing research and evaluation purposes for as long as the GP HUB is available, and the InsideOut Institute is a liable entity, unless otherwise instructed by you. 

6 Sharing of Information 

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. However, we may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • We may share information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating and maintaining the Website. These service providers are bound by confidentiality agreements and are not allowed to use your information for any other purpose.

7 Children's Privacy 

The Website is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 16 years of age. If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 16, please contact us to have it removed.
